This is to right a wrong I perpetuated on the world. I made this image 5 years ago and it has since started circling the internet. It turns out there was a few misspellings and I also was terrible at using type. With this new one I have cleaned it up a little bit. It isn’t a complete overhaul just a touch-up so I can feel better when I see people correct the spelling on the old one.

The trick is all right in this single panel.

In the Inspectors Panel go to the Master Slide Inspector (the second button in from the left) then the Appearance tab. You want to click on either the image or the text box you want to leave editable while you are working on the slide and check the box next to the words “Define as Media/Text Placeholder.” This will allow you to change the picture or text on each slide.
This seems like it should be much easier to figure out than it was. But oh well, at least the functionality is there.
